20th Birthday next week

new year's eve... wonder who'll be coming down to BT??

20th birthday coming up next week, in the first week of the new year 2005.

seriously. dun even have the feeling like i've reached 18 yet n already i'm gonna hit a 2 digit-starting age!!! damn. tt sounds so old!!

as usual, celebrating wif my family on the day itself, on fri.
planned w xiang to go out celeb on wed before going down to club at Paradigm - ladies nite, no cover charge n free drinks all nite for ladies ;p
thinking of meeting up wif some frens somewhere in the wk too.
if not, that leaves thursday...
n as is BT's habit of celebrating pple's bday, its celebrated on the eve of the occassion.
that means countdown, song n the works.
dun noe if i shd go down... colleagues are already asking...
not sure if the management wud plan anything this yr...
frankly, i dun really feel like going down to celeb at BT... =/
esp when i'm not one that likes to jus drink in a pub w/out dancing or other such entertainment, unlike xiang n some others.
i dun even like drinking that much! (kk, hard to believe ya...)
wat a waste of money -.-
but if the mgmt have planned smth already, then guess i wud have to go down.

On the side: Haha, pestering my sis today to make me a home-made bday card for my birthday, which she promptly refuses. haha, noe i'm going to get one anyway *bleeaaah* =p
miss getting birthday cards since i hardly get them every year.
specifically "custom-ordering" it to be hand-made (no matter how amateurish), wif lots of words (lets see some mushiness!! haha =p) n preferably come wif a side-order of lots of love n cuddles ;p kekeke.

Liverpool FC
Went down to a Liverpool Football Club wif Gavin, Phillip n a few of our BT regulars after BT last nite (xiang n i went down BT after our food safety course).
Gavin opened a bottle (Black Label) which we finished in less than 2hrs before the place closed at 1+am. the place even offered karaoke!
smth tt the BT now lacks, as well as atmosphere...
sang a few songs wif xiang n Phillip. been quite some time since i sang karaoke, haha.
Went for supper (nasi lemak somewhere. Gavin's treat of cos) wif Gavin n Kenny before they sent us home.
surprise surprise, Gavin's an unexpectedly nice person *raise eyebrows*
n we only noe this after nearly 3 yrs of working at BT, only getting to noe him last nite.
we'd always viewed him as such a fierce, strict n forbidding customer, thats y we hadn't made any serious attempts at toking to him in all our time (3 yrs! imagine!) at BT so far. but apparently, he's jus shy n stressed-out from work (the rich n successful businessman that he was).
haha... *shakes head*
hmmm... but we went down to this Liverpool FC pub as a secret from mrs chua n ben.
not supposed to let them noe wat other pubs/clubs Gavin n Phillip frequented.
but mrs chua n ben saw us all out to their cars last nite, n they noe we were going somewhere to watch the football matches (all of them gambling on the ESPN matches)... dunno how we're gonna keep it from them =/
hmmm. already tended our 'resignation' to chua n management.
working til the end of this month only - till this fri, 31st Dec.
xiang n i had planned n rehearsed our speech for weeks! n we were so nervous about it, having to postpone telling them for so many times cause smth crop up (the x'mas eve party, our food safety course...), but mrs. chua took it surprisingly well... thats sure a relief :I
but then again... they wun wan to lose us as their customers n potential part-time workers in the future...
as usual, we onli told a few of our regulars of when we're quitting, onli the ones we're more familiar wif. the rest of the regs n customers, we let them think we're working everyday when they asked, so they'll continue returning back to BT.
Gavin n Phillip noes we're quitting oso. some talk of how we can go out n stuff even after we've stopped appearing at BT.
i'm not sure about that tho...
working at BT is always complicated.
we shd noe; all the stories we noe n all the current things going on ard us...
they're not things the average teenager wud even guess cud exist realistically.
its diff while working at BT - i have no choice there.
but its another to bring them into my life even after i've stopped work.
phillip's a sweet guy n very fun to be wif.
but i've oso seen enuff n advised so much against this type.
its so easy to fall into something, but so difficult to extricate yaself from one.

actually, there isn't much to worry about falling prey to temptation in this instance.
even wif such a fun, sociable n easy-going guy as Phillip, i found myself losing interest (mind you, not romantic interest. jus interest in general...) halfway thru the nite. i couldn't joke as spontaneously or tok to them volunteerily, n it was an effort jus to put a smile on my face. n Phillip's one of the more sociable n easy-going guys (not to mention charming) i've known this couple of years!

i haven't had a crush or gotten slightly (romantically) interested in any guys for 3 years!!!
is it my own standards (for heaven's sake, i dun even noe wat my standards are sometimes!), or that i jus haven looked in the rite places yet, or that the men in Singapore are generally getting pathetically...ahem, lower in standards?

All the sweet, sensitive n attractive (ultimately, good bf/husband material) guys are either all taken, or homosexual.

New land ahoy~
Looks like i wun be getting my anime vcds le =(
sis called from malaysia n told me the price... 2 sets of Inuyasha at RM140+ EACH. which makes about RM280++ and S$140 at least!! wo. de. tian =x
told her to look out for my Inuyasha mangas n the Mars vcd set at least...

visited Toa Payoh recently, enroute to work (u wun believe how many routes we tried so far to go to kebangan) and boy... its a food heaven sia~ Xp
it has alomost all the more well-known local eateries (the normal ones like foodcourt, fast food outlets, kopitiams, cafes) and their bakeries... my god. my mouth is drooling at the thought of their variety of breads!
haha, its my first time there at toa payoh since i could remember (hey, do me some justice! its all the way in the east n i live in the west!) and boy... the pple who live there sure have it lucky :p
oh. the shops n the small flea market there sells veri cheap stuffs too (mainly fake jewelleries n accesories- like, $2 for pendents, necklaces, anklets n such?) and the vcd shops there are selling at a cheaper price than shops outside.
Mars is selling at $49.90 as compared to the $55-$59.90 price tags outside.
still too ex tho. wonder hoe long will it take for the price to drop to below 30 bucks? hmmm.
oh, they're selling Inuyahsa n 12 Kingdoms anime too. tho they may be selling at a cheaper rate than other shops (?), but the price is still horrendous -.-
$22.90 for each set of the 4 sets so far of 12 Kingdoms, and 3 sets of Inuyahsa. n there're more sets coming out too. imagine the cost they'll rack up? *shudder* =/

Mum n sis going Malaysia to visit my aunt today, back in half a week or more i think.
Seems like alot of pple are going to Malaysia ard this time of year ya?
Ian's oso going wif his frens, n others are going wif their families.
man, if it wasn't cos of school and work, i'll be there myself!

Asked, or rather, bugged my sister to buy me my vcds n manga if she comes across them there, gave her a *ahem* short list, n said she could jus get ONE of them i'd be happy enough (one series or one set of vcds), but she said its too heavy to carry home?!! aaargh, y dun i have a strong brother instead? SHE CANNOT DO THIS TO ME~!!!
jus one set, is that too much to ask for?! aaaargh~ *tears hair* =[
IF i were there myself, i'd buy... man, think the notepad paper i gave her *its a small notepad ok?!* wun be enough to contain wat i wan.
But for the record, here's wat i wanted her to buy:
1. 12 Kingdoms (the anime set)
2. Inuyasha (the anime set or the manga series - 19 volumes only, how can she find it heavy!)
3. the rest of my Fruitbasket series (vol 10-15)
4. Mars (the drama serial starred by Vic Zhou Zai Zai - he's so freaking cute!! *tears his shirt off!* Growwwl~ oh man oh man oh man, *pant pant pant* He's so hot!*fans herself* phewww. *pants somemore*) =p

n i'll be happy if she jus got me one or two of the above (tho two's prob too much to ask for =/ ). banking my hopes on the Mars and Inuyasha vcd set cos she seems to have more interest in those (after watching an episode of Inuyasha on Central one nite). *bite nails n pray*

S'pore Idol FINALS~

Taufik won the first ever Singapore Idol competition~!!!

His renditions of "Me and Mrs.Jones" and "I Dream" are so smooth n touching =)
like Douglus O (one of the judges) said - "the song (I Dream. written for the eventual winner of the competition) has his name written all over it."
boy is that true.
he was so charismatic n visually stimulating on stage that i actually rewinded my taped performance of the show twice during that song =p
really agreed with Dick Lee (another judge)...am really proud of him =)
not unlike being proud of Stefanie Sun when she became Singapore's bigest hit in the Chinese music industry.
he'll do us proud on the World Idol stage :)
(provided *touch wood* nth goes wrong n he comes down wif stage fright or smth)
He has really came a long way man.
esp with how the viewers have come to accept him too.
like, i used to really think he's just out-staying his welcome in the top 10 n squeezing other really potential n more-deserving contestants out of the comp. wif his presence... n now, look at where he is. how far he's come.
he's really, trully a bona fide Singapore idol now.
Wish him all the best in the World Idol (yes, becos its him, i believe we do have a fighting chance of winning - look at the underdog winner from *the relatively smaller country* Ireland), and in his future music/ showbizz career (this'll be a challenge considering how the English music industry isn't strong regionally n it'll be heavens-noes-how-hard to break into the international market).
Hmmm... n i have no doubt Slyvester will have a stong chance of making it big in the Chinese music scene too. so no problem there :)
Tho if u ask me, given a choice between their two debut albums, i'll def be more willing to splurge on Taufiks's...
At least, there's quality.
