What do you do when u're experiencing a bout of bad luck? Stay at home and blog all day of cos
Yesterday can be summarised in one word: SUAY.
or more explicitly, suay ga lao sai.
I can't believe it, i haven had this much bad luck since god noes when.
I had sch that morning so took leave from work n went out with Xiang for sushi buffet n karaoke after that. It was late when i was going back so after i alighted from my bus, i decided to take a shortcut through the the park home.
The park which i had only walked through a couple of times before with my sis. The park where i had to cross a wooden bridge over a huge monsoon drain.
It was close to midnite and the ground was wet from rain in the evening. And might i add... the stupid bridge's topography was curvilinear. Might i also add, that it was made of very painful gravel. Very painful for the person who slip n fall n skid half a foot across on her bare knees becos she was so stupid to choose to wear her short skirt that day instead of her nice warm jeans that, aside from saving her from losing half the skin on her knee, wud also have kept her warm throughout the day in the cold lecture theatre n cold sushi retaurant.
And to add insult to injury, this suay girl flung out her arm to grap the wooden rail of the bridge for support which was built exactly for this purpose, missed the railing by a foot, and swung her very expensive, designer, n only wearable denim jacket at the moment that was orignally hung onto her arm into the dark abyss of the monsson drain.
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOP!!!
SUAY ANOT??!
Notice that i wrote in the third person? Becos its too suay for me to believe it actually happened to me even when my knee is hurting everytime i stand up n sit down now.
The last time i fell down was since my secondary sch-days ok?! Like since sec 3 or 4... have totally forgotten the pain of having to skin ya knee (so immature, careless, clumsy, humiliating, unbelievably suay), the incovenience of walking, bathing, dressing n undressing that accompanies a skinned knee.
n my beatiful denim jacket!!!
xin tong. =<
When i looked into the darkness of the monsoon drain trying to look for my jacket, n finally found it lying spread-eagled in the shallow waters, n saw the vast tiled walls at the two sides of the monsoon drain, i gave up hope of getting it back. Which is just as well, because even if there was a way for me to get down (if i'm stupid enough or physiclly fit enough to try), with my luck that day, i'll probably get my leg stuck somewhere, meet with a downpour in the middle of the nite or otherwise, the morning high tide, n then drown n die.
Which brought my thoughts to wat would anyone who saw my jacket - lying faced-down, spread-eagled, reminiscent of a man lying faced down - floating in the shallow waters at first light, thought?
It sure looked like someone jumped n drowned n had his clothes float to this part of the large drain...
Anyway, after i stood up from the fall, it hadn't started to hurt yet. n becos i couldn't see my own knee standing up n wasn't sure whether i had skinned my knee in the fall anot (Yeah, rite. Gravel n i still had to think), i brought a hand down to cover my right knee (the one i landed on most heavily n slid across half the floor with). When i brought it up, it was covered with blood. And i looked down n saw my whole knee bloody.
After i hobbled home (which was still a fifteen minutes walk away; or twenty in my state) and opened the door, the first two sentence i said to my sis was "Da4 xiong1 ri4. Jian4 xie3.", before pointing down to my knees. Having received my msg awhile ago n heard a short version of wat happened, she was like, "Qi1 yue4 wor, ni3 zhuang4 gui3 arh?".
............ -.-
*Translated, that means it's the Seventh Month, our Ghost Festival here where our other-worldly brothers n sisters are free to roam around earth during a good part of the whole month, making lots of mummies (no pun intended) telling their children not to stay out late. Like me. Which seeing as my dear mother was aslp at the moment, my dearer sister took it in herself to advice: "Shui2 jiao4 ni3 zhe4 yang4 wan3 hui2 lai2?". (*translated, that's "Who ask u come back so late?" or the Chinese version of "I told u so" -.- ).
Blah blah blah....
Anyway, after painfully hobbling around in the office ytd, I decided its better to stay home n walk as little as possible today. But seeing as my aunt from KL is in Singapore to visit, guess i may have to take her around somewhere over the weekend or next week after work...
Where do I take someone from out of town that I haven't been to a thousand times n haven gotten too sick of?? Seeing as I've lived in Singapore for the past 20 years myself n everything seems boring or banal after awhile, I've not much idea wat wud interest someone who haven visited Singapore for a long time.
n then there is the inevitable spending.
There goes my salary.
But I guess that can't be helped. She's family.
